SoundOff Summit: Calgary's Premier Music Industry Gathering

The SoundOff Summit, Calgary's dynamic music industry conference and showcase event, has been making waves in the city's music scene since its inception in 2013. Born from the legacy of Calgary's 2008 JUNO Awards hosting, this three-day networking event has evolved into a crucial platform for connecting local talent with music industry professionals.

The annual gathering, presented by Music Calgary, combines professional development conferences with live music showcases, creating an intimate environment where emerging artists can forge meaningful connections with industry heavyweights. According to Colleen Krueger, managing director of Music Calgary, the summit's primary goal is to bring the industry directly to local artists, offering an experience comparable to larger festivals like South by Southwest.

What sets SoundOff Summit apart is its intentionally streamlined format, designed to maximize face-to-face interactions between artists and delegates over the three-day period. The event features an impressive array of programming, including industry panels, hands-on workshops, and live performances across several venues in the city.

For 2024, the summit is scheduled for November 14-16, featuring notable industry figures such as Ben Goldberg of Ba Da Bing Records, Montreal promoter Jonathan Nudell, and renowned Toronto radio host Alan Cross. The conference covers essential industry topics including grant writing, negotiation skills, digital toolkit management, and music career fundamentals.

Accessibility is a key feature of the event, with ticket options ranging from $40 for single-day access to $80 for an all-access pass. This approach ensures that both industry professionals and music enthusiasts can participate in this celebration of Calgary's vibrant music scene.

The SoundOff Summit represents Music Calgary's commitment to enhancing the professional and economic sustainability of Calgary's music community, while putting the city on the map as a significant music industry destination. Through this annual gathering, Calgary continues to strengthen its position as a nurturing ground for emerging musical talent and industry connections.
