Music Calgary expanded SoundOff Summit south to Lethbridge last year with support from Alberta Foundation for the Arts, whose pilot rural funding initiative helped make the project possible.

The expansion created an opportunity for Calgary artists to share the stage with emerging and established artists from the Lethbridge region, fostering meaningful regional connection and collaboration.

The experience demonstrated how travel and cultural exchange within Alberta can open new opportunities for artists, audiences, and communities alike, while reinforcing what we already know: incredible music and creative talent exist in every corner of the province. As part of the project, a live performance video was filmed for each showcasing artist, creating lasting content that continues to celebrate and share the experience beyond the event itself.

We’re here to support the growth of our music community.

By early 2009, a founding Board of Directors was appointed, and Music Calgary was officially incorporated as a non-profit under the Government of Alberta. With a clear mandate and bylaws in place, the organization began its work supporting local talent.
